For those of you who are interested to get S-OFF your HTC smartphone, you can now use Firewater to.
This will work on most HTC smartphones with Qualcomm chip. I am able to use this method to get S-OFF bunch of my HTC phones, including AT & T One X (One XL), HTC Evo 4G LTE and HTC One M7 / M8.
Why S-OFF
S-OFF on older devices like AT & T One X allows the user to flash ROM normally customized without having to use a computer to flash kernel (boot image) via fastboot.
On the new HTC devices like HTC One M7 and M8, you do not need S-OFF as a custom ROM will install normally, but with S-OFF, you will be able to install bootloaders / radios. This can be useful in cases where you need to upgrade the bootloader on the latest versions of the Android operating system so you do not have to stock firmware Unroot your phone.
I generally do not favor particular S-OFF on the latest HTC phones as they are dangerous, but I think the Firewater method is very safe to do so and does not cause hard bricks as I saw him with other S-OFF methods.
to use Firewater, first you will need a rooted HTC smartphone. (You can refer to our How To Root Android page)
Once you have a rooted HTC smartphone, you're ready to go. In this example I'm using CM11 ROM but you can use any custom ROM or stock ROM.
Step 1. Enable the development options on your phone by going to Settings-> About Phone and hit the "Build Number" about 5 times until it said, "you have enabled the development parameters"
Step 2. Press the back button once and you will see a new menu. settings called "Developer options." Go in and turn on "Android Debug" or "Android ADB Debugging"
