Although I played with the G5 LG ago over a month at MWC 2016, it was great to actually get one for every day ultimately lead. Of course, this is a T-Mobile retail unit I bought, which is identical to all GSM models there.
My first impressions
I know that many have complained about the design starting with the launch of G5 at MWC 2016, but for me it was not a real concern that I was more interested in its modular functions, super wide angle camera, and things out of the ordinary.
Yes, the LG G5 that I did have some design flaws such as metallic paint used on the back of the phone had some areas that are not 100% smooth. I think this is the manufacture and the new LG process used to create the aluminum alloy may be at fault. If this is a big problem for you, you can just go ahead with another smartphone like the Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge.
Aside from its design flaws, the LG G5 is full of features, perhaps more "new" features such as its modular design. The battery compartment is modular and you can replace the current line of modules / camera DAC. Of course, the big LG G5 selling point is that LG will continue to do more client modules can buy later to add more features. One such feature that I would like to see are speaker modules, SSD modules, camera modules 360, etc ... etc ... Usually you buy a new smartphone and you're stuck with its original features to the next 12 months until you upgrade. With these modular phones, you can add other modules or even months after its release, the beauty of LG G5.
LG G5 is the perfect phone by any means, but I do not think that its design flaws should take away from what its basic characteristics are. I should have a full review of this bad boy after I use it for a few weeks but for now, I think LG has done a great job of introducing the world's first modular smartphone. And if you do not like it, you can always expect their second version, which should be more polite with crushed insects. This is certainly not a polite phone yet, but a new type of smartphone that can revolutionize the way we use our phones
