While most of us in the US are still stuck in the ice ages with regular 4G LTE, I discovered that by my recent travel to Thailand they already have 4G LTE Advanced (LTE or 4G +) with coverage almost everywhere in the country. I tried 4G LTE Advanced few years ago in South Korea where it is widespread, but it was rather surprising to see Thailand as they had not even 4G LTE for the past 4 years, I visited the country.
As for the United States, my theory is that US carriers like AT & T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon are slow to deploy new technologies such as 4G Advanced LTE because they are already milking the cow (consumers) with outdated technology. We already pay outrageous prices 4G LTE (unless you are on unlimited plan) while Thailand offers 4 GB of LTE Advanced for only 399 Baht (or $ 11.34 USD). Also, consider that Thailand is probably not the most tech-savvy countries in the world with a GDP of 17-18 times less than the US Not only that, you can also get Gigabit Fibre Optic Internet everywhere in Thailand already while we are still struggling to get in most uS
I like traveling and also test different networks in other countries and boy, Thailand now has one of the fastest networks in the world .
Currently, TrueMove and AIS are the two networks in Thailand that offer 4G +. For those of you who travel in Thailand, just visit the local shop to grab a 7-11 + 4G prepaid SIM card by showing your passport. Make sure you take 4G + SIM because there are also different types of prepaid SIM cards
