Couple days back, YouTube announced support for videos to 360 degrees, which means that YouTube users can now upload videos to 360 degrees and viewers can see the video on their Android device in 360 degrees. Well, as I promised, I ordered the camera Kodak SP 360, which is one of the two cameras available today for consumers to make their own videos to 360 degrees.
The Kodak SP360 Explorer package costs $ 283 on Amazon, and comes with all dockable accessories you can think of with the video camera. I am able to quickly and easily attach the camera on my tripod, my helmet, and even on my body of the bike itself. As for the camera? The size of a GoPro, but comes with a super-fisheye lens that is capable of capturing pictures / videos in 360 degrees. Well, these are not exactly 360 degrees, I discovered, the Kodak SP360 falls a bit short because it lacks half of the hemisphere
Regarding specifications, Kodak SP360 can take up to 1080p 30FPS video at 360 degrees (Now 1080P divided into 360 degrees into reality you don 't get the full 1080p quality) with an F2.8 lens and is waterproof (with closed housing), and shock. In making my first video at 360 degrees, I was quite surprised as I only saw 360 degree videos on my speed and VR 360 with the latest YouTube videos.
So what can you expect from Kodak SP360?
right now, this is one of only two cameras with support 360 360 YouTube video out of the box. It took literally 5 minutes to convert my video to 360 degrees in a YouTube compatible format and download it. (You can check out my 360 first video here.) Although I expected much better resolution, the Kodak SP360 down a video 1080P 30FPS in many other parts, resulting in more or less VGA video. Additionally, with Kodak SP360, you do not get true 360 degree videos. Although the camera does pick up 360 degrees of view, it takes only half of the hemisphere. This means that if you point the camera up, you'll miss all that is in your camera. For example, you put the camera up to your waist camera pointing up, you will lose all the photos below your waist. So in reality, this is not a true 360 degree camera
