CM12.1 ROM with Android 5.1.1 Review!

CM12.1 ROM with Android 5.1.1 Review! -

CyanogenMod team announced nightlies official CM12.1, which are the last CM12.1 ROM based on the latest Android 5.1.1 (no Android 5.1) Lollipop. I flashed these official and unofficial ROMs CM12.1 on many Android smartphones and my boy, it is certainly the best CyanogenMod ROM I've seen so far.

What I notice with these CM12.1 built is that they are more stable than ever upgrade to CM12 CM12.1 Lollipop was really an incremental upgrade, not a major problem, as we have seen to CM11 to CM12. It seems that the CyanogenMod team jumps step stable versions for CM12 and jump to CM12.1 Well, the good news is that these are not CM12.1 first beta bugs as we have seen with earlier CM12 built. In fact, these nightlies CM12.1 could be considered one of the first steps as they are, at least on many Android devices I've tried almost bug free.

So what are the new features on CM12.1

Of course, Android 5.1.1 brings greater stability, a slight improvement in performance, but the biggest change that I found was with settings buttons for phones with hardware buttons. Just as they did with CM11S / 12S on OnePlus One, the last adjustment function can disable the buttons on your hardware if you want to activate the softkeys (bar on the navigation screen) buttons. This is actually one of the new features most useful to have the two soft buttons / hardware can be confusing and prone to accidental presses. With this feature, you will also be able to use navigation ring targets, allowing you to completely transform your phone into the least-button device.

The topics were introduced with Lollipop but it got better with each iteration. One of the objectives of CyanogenMod before redesigning the theme engine (according to Steve Kondik the founder of the CM) was to do really as good as the MIUI themes. Well, I think we definitely hit that point now. a couple years back, you might find a few dozen themes that were actually used, but now there are a ton of other themes that are much more refined and fun to actually use new themes.
